Following a 30-10 win over North Carolina, WVU head coach Neal Brown shared his thoughts.
“This is going to be a catapult for us. I really feel like we should end the season in the Top 25 (AP poll), I think we earned that right,” Brown said.
West Virginia finished their season 9-4, statistically the best season Brown has had leading the program.
“I think as we go into the ’24 season, we’ll be a team pre-season that’ll be in the Top 25. We returned a lot and I’m excited about that”
Brown, then noted that this was a somewhat odd game for the Mountaineers.
“This was not our typical game, but we found a way to win,” Brown started.
“Offensively not our best, penalties, uncharacteristic. Disappointed we didn’t take advantage of turnovers, that’s something we’ve prided ourselves on this year, we didn’t do that today.”
However, Brown credited quarterback Garrett Greene’s effort.
“Garrett Greene is gritty, he gives you a chance.”
North Carolina held WVU to just 62 rushing yards entering the fourth quarter.
“They did a nice job playing the run,” Brown said.
“They did some nice things with the line of scrimmage, but we found a way there in the second half to get some run game going.”
With a solid season and a bowl win, Brown has seemed to earn some trust from people around WVU football.
