West Virginia men’s basketball lost to Radford 66-65 on Wednesday. With the recent loss of Jesse Edwards due to injury, West Virginia is still yet to play with a full, healthy and eligible lineup.
Three-Point Shooting
The Mountaineers did not make a three in the first half shooting 0-10. However, Radford wasn’t lighting it up from the arc either in the first, shooting 3-16.
In the second half, WVU would improve from three shooting 4-11. Overall, they were 4-21 (19%).
In today’s basketball where the three-pointer is so principal, West Virginia will have to find more success shooting threes to win games.
Rebounds
With Edwards out, it’s clear the Mountaineers are lacking height and that showed in the box score. West Virginia was outrebounded 46-38, including allowing 12 offensive rebounds which converted to 11 second-chance points for Radford.
Free-Throw Shooting
In a game that was this close, West Virginia could be haunted when looking back at their numbers from the stripe.
They shot 11-17 or 64.7% compared to Radford’s 75%.
RaeQuan Battle
In his first game with West Virginia. Battle was the team’s top scorer with 29 points.
Although he struggled from three (1-8), he still shot 9-22 and made 10 of 13 free throws.
On top of that, Battle had six rebounds and a steal.
