West Virginia signed 22 players in the class of 2024 on National Signing Day Wednesday, including four-star receiver Ric’Darious ‘DayDay’ Farmer.
WVU head coach Neal Brown outlined the whole process and highlighted the success of Bilal Marshall and Blaine Stewart, who were in their first cycle as assistant coaches.
“I think he can be an elite recruiter,” Brown said of Marshall. “Bilal came in and did a lot of the finishing to get DayDay signed today (yesterday), so that was big.”
As far as Stewart, the familiarity aspect he has with his dad being the head coach here and him growing up here is something that helps him sell West Virginia more than any other coach on the Mountaineers’ staff, Brown says.
“When he’s in front of the player, there’s nobody better on our staff that can sell West Virginia and what it means. I mean he grew up in this building and so he can sell what that means and then he’ll continue to understand all the stuff that goes into it and how to set up recruiting and stuff so I would say he’s in the process but be he’s going to be really really good at it (recruiting),” Brown said of Stewart.
