Gerad Parker, a native of Huntington and the offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach at West Virginia from 2020-2021 has been named the next head coach of the football program at Troy.
Pete Thamel of ESPN first reported the news.
Parker left WVU to become the tight ends coach at Notre Dame in 2022 and also served as their offensive coordinator this season.
Notre Dame’s offense was ranked No. 29 in the nation this season, averaging 429.2 yards per game.
With Troy’s former coach Jon Sumrall headed to Tulane, the Trojans hire Parker following an 11-2 season.
WVU’s Neal Brown coached Troy from 2015-2018.
