West Virginia head coach Neal Brown announced sophomore running back CJ Donaldson will miss the Duke’s Mayo Bowl due to injury against North Carolina.
“CJ Donaldson will miss the game, and that’s really my decision. He had surgery, and I thought it affected him right at the end of the game, especially in the Baylor game,” Brown said.
Brown spoke ahead of West Virginia’s appearance in the bowl game on Sunday, and gave an update on Donaldson’s status.
“For him, as head coach, you got to make decisions for the better end of the entire program but also for the right reasons for each individual,” Brown said. “I felt like that an offseason was more important to him than not being able to play full speed in the bowl game. So, he’s rehabbing, but he will not be available.”
Brown had 798 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns this season.
