Beanie Bishop Jr., West Virginia’s cornerback has become West Virginia’s 13th-ever Consensus All-American by receiving first and second-team honors from lists recognized by the NCAA: Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Football Foundation, Football Writers Association of America and The Sporting News.
Bishop was named to the first team by Walter Camp and FWAA. Second team by AP, AFCA and The Sporting News.
“Beanie has had an outstanding season and is very deserving of Consensus All-America honors,” West Virginia head coach Neal Brown said. “Everyone associated with the Mountaineer football program is proud of him and what he has accomplished this year. He has been an excellent leader and great representative for Mountaineer Football, the University and the state.”
Bishop is the Mountaineers first Consensus All-American since Darius Stills in 2020.
Bishop led the nation in passes defended with 24, while also having four interceptions.
This was Bishop’s first season with West Virginia, having transferred from Minnesota. The Louisville native began his collegiate career at Western Kentucky.
West Virginia will be taking on North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Dec. 27th, after which Bishop is expected to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.
