JJ Quinerly named Big 12 Player of the Week

Though WVU was left out of this week’s women’s basketball top 25 rankings, the undefeated team is still receiving recognition elsewhere.

The Big 12 conference named junior point guard JJ Quinerly the Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday after she recorded 25 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds, seven steals, and a block in just 25 minutes against Delaware State Sunday.

In WVU’s first game of the week, against then No. 25 Penn State, Quinerly scored 22 points and tallied two assists, four rebounds, and three steals in 36 minutes in the win. She shot 17/31 from the field in the two games combined and made four of 10 three-point attempts.

For the season, Quinerly leads the Mountaineers in points per game (18.4) and steals per game (3.1) in an average of 27.7 minutes.

The Mountaineers will take the week off and resume play on Monday the 18th against Wright State at home. Tip-off is at 10 a.m.
