Jett Strickenberger, West Virginia’s 125, has been named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week.
Strickenberger, back wrestling in his home state (Colorado), claimed two victories this weekend.
In a WVU win over Air Force, Strickenberger scored a 10-8 decision over then No. 27 Tucker Owens.
Two days later against Northern Colorado, Strickenberger would upset former No. 6 and 2023 Big 12 champion Stevo Poulin 11-6.
In FloWrestling’s latest DI individual rankings, Strickenberger moved up to No. 19 after previously being ranked No. 25.
This is the second time Strickenberger has been named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week this season as he received the honors in week one. He becomes the fourth Mountaineer to do so in the same season, first-ever at 125.
Strickenberger and West Virginia will host Fairmont State on Dec. 19 in their next dual, looking to improve their 6-1 team record.
