No. 21 West Virginia falls to No. 18 Oklahoma in wrestling

Sunday inside the WVU Collesium, the No.18 Sooners narrowly defeated the Mountaineers
wrestling team by a score of 21-19.

The dual started with a tight match-up in the 125-pound bout where No. 19 Jett Strickenberger
would be deafted 6-4 by Oklahoma’s Conrad Hendriksen. A major decision at 133 would put
WVU in a 7-0 hole early.

No. 19 Jordan Titus received an injury default in the first period of the 141 match to pull West
Virginia closer but, Oklahoma would win the next two matches by decision making the team
score 13-6 after the 157-pound bout.

The Mountaineers would make a small run with No. 22 Peyton Hall pinning his opponent at 165,
a 4-3 win at 174 by No.27 Brody Conley and No. 23 Dennis Robin earning a major decision (11-
0) against his opponent at 184.

WVU was leading 19-13 before the last two matches.

At 197 No. 3 Stephen Buchanan scored a technical fall (18-3, 7:00) over No. 29 Austin Cooley
to bring the Sooners within one before the heavyweight matchup 19-18.

In all out battle, No. 14 Josh Heindselman of Oklahoma was on the right side of a 9-7 decision
over West Virginia’s No. 23 Michael Wolfgram.

In the end, the highly anticipated matchups did not disappoint as the Sooners came out with a
slim 21-19 victory.
