West Virginia men’s soccer head coach Dan Stratford took the time to speak to the media following the Mountaineers 3-1 quarterfinal win over Loyola Marymount.
“I was guilty of having a moment just there as the guys were singing Country Roads,” said Stratford. “I was just taking it in and I could feel it coming up. It’s really, really special. I said before when I did my press conference when I got the job, I meant it when I said it, I think we can win a national championship here. I wouldn’t have taken the job if I did not think we had the platform and the foundation to win a national championship. That’s not something that necessarily the program has a great tradition of really truly competing for.”
The Mountaineers booked a spot in the College Cup for the first time in program history. They will await the winner of Stanford and Clemson on Dec. 6th in Louisville.
