West Virginia head coach Neal Brown briefly spoke of the status of running back CJ Donaldson and offensive lineman Doug Nester heading into this weekend’s game against Cincinnati.
Brown spoke on his weekly Neal Brown Radio Show, and gave a positive update about both players.
“CJ did a little bit yesterday, a little bit today and he’ll be a true game-time decision. Not me like not letting our opponent know, like [he] really is a game-time decision and so he’ll warm up, he’ll dress,” Brown said.
Donaldson exited last week’s loss early in the second half due to a left ankle injury.
So far this season, Donaldson has rushed for 755 yards and 10 touchdowns on 161 carries.
As for Nester, he was slow to get up in the fourth quarter after getting rolled up on by the Sooners.
“Doug, we’re going to give it you know very similar treatment that he had against BYU. He’ll dress. He’s going to be available. He looked better today than I probably anticipated, we’re very fortunate,” Brown said. “He got rolled up from behind, and I really saw it. It was kind of right in front of me, and I was really concerned that, that was going to be something really bad and it was just an ankle, thankfully.”
Nester has been a staple in the Mountaineer line for some time now and has been dealing with the injury bug since the UCF game. West Virginia will hope for a speedy and full recovery for their tackle as they look to trend in the right direction to close the regular season.
