Former Mountaineer wins MiLB gold glove

Victor Scott II, an outfielder for the AA Springfield Cardinals was named a 2023 Minor League Rawlings Gold Glove winner.

Scott spent three seasons as a Mountaineer, from 2020-2022, compiling 100 hits in his career.

In his junior season alone, Scott played in 55 games having a .278 batting average, 47 Rbi’s, six home runs and 38 stolen bases (62 in his career).

Scott was the 157th overall selection in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB draft by the St.Louis Cardinals.

In the 2023 MiLB season, Scott made 346 putouts, had five outfield assists and held a .992 fielding percentage. Scott played in the 2023 Futures Game where he got a hit and two stolen bases. He also was an AFL (Arizona Fall League) Rising Star, Mid Post-Season All-Star and a MiLB.com Organization All-Star this season.

Scott is ranked as the No. 4 overall prospect in the Cardinals organization with an 80 run grade and 70 field grade. His MLB ETA is 2025.
