West Virginia has defeated Pittsburgh by a score of 71-62.
Senior guard Lauren Fields was the leading scorer for the Mountaineers with 23 points. She shot 9-13 from the field, 5-8 from three.
JJ Quinerly and Kyah Watson were also detrimental to the victory. Quinnerly had 18 points and Watson had 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Jordan Harrison played well with six rebounds and 10 assists.
Overall the Panthers out-rebounded the Mountaineers 46 to 29. That will be something WVU will have to work on.
This is the sixth straight victory against Pitt for women’s basketball.
West Virginia improves to 2-0 and will face Youngstown State in their next contest on Nov. 19.
