BYU starting quarterback Kedon Slovis will be available as the emergency quarterback in Saturday’s contest against West Virginia, as reported by The Salt Tribune and Pete Thamel.
Slovis, currently battling injuries, has thrown for 1,716 yards this season with a touchdown-interception ratio of 12-6. Last season, at Pitt, Slovis threw for 2,397 yards and beat A JT Daniels-led Mountaineers team in the Backyard Brawl 38-31, he has also played at USC.
Starting under center for the Cougars is JUCO product, Jake Retzlaff. At Riverside City College in 2022, Retzlaff amassed 4,596 passing yards, 515 rushing yards, 44 passing touchdowns and six rushing touchdowns. He was rated the No. 1 QB in ESPN’s Junior College ranking for 2023.
Retzlaff will look to reignite a BYU offense that didn’t score a touchdown last week, with Slovis being available if need be.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. EST and can be streamed on FOX.
