West Virginia Governor Jim Justice said he is going to write a letter to the NCAA regarding their denial of RaeQuan Battle’s waiver.
Justice said on Thursday he is going to write a letter to the NCAA asking them to reconsider their decision on Battle’s waiver denial, which WVU has since appealed.
Kids have so many pressures today. From what I understand from the coaches at WVU, this kid needs to play basketball. He needs it really bad and they’re worried about him,” Justice said. “I’m going to write a letter to the NCAA requesting that they reconsider this decision. We want him to play here and he loves being here and absolutely I’m going to do everything I possible can to at least try to at least convince them to reconsider their decision.”
Battle is a two-time transfer from Washington and Montana State. Battle had his waiver to be immediately eligible to play rejected by the NCAA on Monday. Earlier this week, West Virginia’s Attorney General also gave his input on the matter saying he was going to “demand answers.”
