Coming off a thrilling 5-2 victory over then No. 1 ranked Marshall, the West Virginia men’s soccer team now finds themselves holding the No. 1 spot in multiple soccer polls.
In new polls published by Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News the Mountaineers are the top team.
Through 15 games, the Mountaineers are unbeaten, posting a record of 11-0-4, while holding wins over then No. 3 ranked Portland and former No. 1 ranked Marshall.
The Mountaineers have been led by Marcus Caldeira who has 12 goals on the season including a hattrick against Marshall. Yutaro Tsukada has also helped lead the way, posting nine assists in the Mountaineers 15 games.
With just two games left in the regular season, the Mountaineers look to finish unbeaten.
West Virginia’s next game is Friday as they travel to take on Kentucky in Lexington. Kickoff for that game is set for 7:00.
