West Virginia beats Coastal Carolina 2-0 on the road in Conway, South Carolina, off the legs of senior forward Yutaro Tsukada and fifth-year senior midfielder Luke McCormick .
Tsukada got the scoring starting early for the Mountaineers at 2’ with an unassisted goal to put the Mountaineers up 1-0.
In the 33rd minute, McCormick tacked on an insurance goal for the Mountaineers to put them up 2-0, as he was able to get a loose ball in the box and get it past the Coastal goalkeeper.
The second half featured strong defensive play, which saw zero shots on goal for senior goalkeeper Jackson Lee.
The Mountaineers moved up to second place in the Sun Belt conference with their fourth conference win of the year.
The Mountaineers will continue their two-game road trip on Friday, Oct. 27 in Lexington, Kentucky against Kentucky at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
