Josh Eilert remaining confident as RaeQuan Battle’s waiver process drags on

Josh Eilert is remaining confident that RaeQuan Battle will be eligible to play for the Mountaineers when the team takes the floor on Nov. 6 against Missouri State.

At the Big 12 Tipoff event on Wednesday, Eilert said the waiver is still under review, but that he is confident Battle will be granted the waiver to play.

“We have the RaeQuan Battle wavier looming over our head but I really think the NCAA’s going to do right by him and he’s going to get that,” Eilert said during an interview on ESPN. “So I cross my fingers and I think that’s going to happen.”

The news of having no decision about Battle’s waiver comes after Eilert previously said he would “hope to hear this week.” Eight days after Eilert said that, it’s clear there has been no word on Battle’s waiver from the NCAA.

Battle spent last season at Montana State, averaging 17.7 points while shooting 46.9 percent from the field. He was named to All-Big Sky Conference First Team as well as the MVP of the conference tournament.
