West Virginia could be without two starting offensive lineman against Houston

West Virginia head coach Neal Brown gave injury updates for West Virginia ahead of their Thursday night game against Houston.

The Mountaineers will be without starting left guard Tomas Rimac who will be out as he deals with an injury he sustained against TCU. They could also be without left tackle Wyatt Milum who was poked in the eye against TCU as Brown lists him as a game-time decision.

“Tomas will not play this week. As far as how long he’ll be out, I’m not sure yet. He’ll be able to return but he won’t play this week.” Brown said.

Safety Aubrey Burks who was carted off the field against TCU, is questionable heading into the game. If Burks can’t go, there is a plan to replace him at safety.

We’ve got some flexibility back there. Malachi (Ruffin) has played and started games at safety. We used Jacolby in some of our nickel packages, he’s played well,” Brown said. Avery Wilcox will be the fourth safety if Aubrey didn’t go.”

As far as quarterback, Garrett Greene and Nicco Marchiol were both dealing with ankle injuries, but both should be good to go this week.

“He practiced from Wednesday on,” Brown said of Marchiol. “Open week really kind of occurred at a good place for both those quarterbacks because they were able to get off of it for a while.”
