West Virginia Men’s Soccer defeats UNC Greensboro 2-1

The fourth-ranked West Virginia Men’s Soccer team went on the road and defeated UNC Greensboro 2-1 on Tuesday night.

After a scoreless first half, the scoring began when forward Marcus Caldeira scored his eighth goal of the season to the bottom left with an assist from forward Yutaro Tsukada at the 47:54 mark of the match.

UNC Greensboro responded at the 60:31 mark of the match when defender Ethan Conley scored a goal to the bottom left with an assist from midfielder Maxwel De-Bodene.

West Virginia took the lead for good at the 80:14 mark of the match when defender Max Broughton scored a goal to the bottom right with an assist from forward Yutaro Tsukada.

UNC Greensboro finished with 12 shots compared to West Virginia’s 11. They also outpaced West Virginia in corners with eight compared to five.

West Virginia goalie Jackson Lee finished with four saves, while UNC Greensboro goalie Jarrett Payne finished with two.

West Virginia remains unbeaten on the season at 7-0-2 and will be back in action again on Saturday when they are on the road to take on Sun Belt Conference foe Georgia State on Saturday, September 30 at 2 p.m.
