West Virginia men’s soccer picked up their first road win of the season and continued their early season winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Yale.
In the 33rd minute, Yutaro Tsukada sunk a penalty kick to give the Mountaineers an early lead going into the half.
In the 49th minute, Ryan Baer had an opportunity but his shot attempt went high. Freshman standout Marcus Caldeira made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute with a top-right corner shot from deep.
Goalie Jackson Lee had a pretty easy night, as the West Virginia backline only allowed five shot attempts, none of them being on goal. With a 3-0 start to the season for the Mountaineers without letting up a single goal, they’ve had a perfect start to the season as they direct their attention to American.
This is the fourth time in program history, that WVU has started the season with three consecutive games without allowing a goal.
West Virginia will continue the road trip on September 5th when they travel down to Washington D.C. to face off against American at 4 p.m.
