West Virginia faces No. 7 Penn State in week one of the college football season.
These two teams are meeting for the first time since 1992, with kickoff set for 7:36 p.m. on NBC.

The Mountaineers picked up one first down on their opening drive, but failed to convert on third and three. Oliver Straw punts to the Penn State six yard line. WVU threw the ball once on their opening drive and it was dropped by Cortez Braham.

The Nittany Lions go right down the field as Aubrey Burks gets beat in single coverage. PSU uses a 72-yard touchdown pass from Drew Allar to KeAndre Lambert-Smith.

Once again it is one first down for the Mountaineers, but they fail to do anything without handing the ball off to CJ Donaldson. Two completions for three yards for Greene, while WVU has eight rushes for 31 yards.
Penn State — 7:16
Penn State picks up a couple of first downs, but a good third down play from Davoan Hawkins to tip Allar’s pass gets the Mountaineers off the field and forces a punt.
West Virginia — 3:31
West Virginia is able to get into the end zone on a CJ Donaldson 1-yard rush. Donaldson and the Mountaineers used the ground game with Greene using a 9-yard rush on third down where he went across the field, and then a quarterback sneak for the first down. That led to a Devin Carter catch for 37 yards before WVU punched it in.

On 4th and 5 Garrett Greene misses Traylon Ray behind him and Penn State takes over on downs. A trick play went nowhere and then Greene scrambled for 10 yards, but ultimately WVU can’t convert on fourth down. Penn State takes over on their own 37.

Penn State gets into field goal range, but they push it wide after the Mountaineers pressured Allar into two incompletions towards the end of step possession.

West Virginia went three and out on their final drive, as Penn State used two timeouts to get the ball back with 1:17 to play.

Allar drove Penn State down the field, aided by a horse collar penalty from Andrew Wilson-Lamp. Allar got Penn State into field goal range, but Sander Shayak missed his second field goal of the evening form 34 yards.

WVU forces a three and out on the first drive on the first drive of the second half. Allar had Lambert-Smith open, but his pass was just low and they couldn’t connect.
West Virginia — 13:37
The Mountaineers got a chunk play which came back on an illegal shift. After that it is two quick plays that go nowhere and WVU punts back to Penn State.

Penn State drove right down the field with ease, connecting on chunk plays multiple times. It ended with Lambert-Smith running from the right side of the field and getting free from the receiver’s route on the top, leading to his second score of the night on a 12-yard connection with Allar.

The Mountaineers drive into Penn State territory but turn the ball over on downs. Greene got blown up as he tried to complete a fourth-down throw and Penn State holds a 21-7 lead.

Penn State drives down the field, including a pair of 22-yard completions to get inside the WVU 10. Two dropped passes hurt Penn State, before Penn State kicks a 25-yard field goal try to extend their lead to three scores.
