West Virginia head coach Neal Brown said there has been a decision made on the quarterback battle for WVU.
“I know who’s going to start, I don’t know if we’ll share that or not. That’s been decided,” Brown said on Monday.
Garrett Greene and Nicco Marchiol have been battling since the beginning of spring practice. A large part of the process for choosing a starter was the decision making between both quarterbacks.
Brown referenced turnovers in WVU’s scrimmage this past Saturday, and said that helped add clarity to his decision.
“It kind of verified what had been happening throughout camp,” Brown said of the results from Saturday’s scrimmage. “Both guys have gotten better, but one of them’s performed at a higher level. We’re going to continue to push them. I feel comfortable with both of them, but it’s been clear who is ahead at this point.”
Brown said the team knows and he is unsure of it will be formally announced.
“They know,” Brown said. “We haven’t done a formal thing”
