it was announced on Thursday that West Virginia’s, Omar Silverio had his waiver denied by the NCAA.
Silverio was a former teammate of Jose Perez and in 2021-2022 he averaged 10.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game at Hofstra.
With his waiver being denied, Silverio’s collegiate career is over.
“I know Omar is disappointed that he won’t be able to compete this season as a Mountaineer and that his collegiate career is over,” WVU interim head coach Josh Eilert said. “He is a wonderful person, and I know he will be successful in whatever career path he chooses. All of us enjoyed our time with him, and we wish him well.”
This move now opens up a roster spot for the mountaineers who are still trying to fill out the roster for this season.
