Arizona State AD meets with Wren Baker; vows to visit West Virginia

There has been a small bit of unintended controversy following Arizona State being admitted into the Big 12 last week.

Arizona State Director of Athletics Ray Anderson jokingly told reporters, “I promise I’m not going to Morgantown.”

Baker responded with a tweet the next day not mentioning Anderson or Arizona State, but saying, “there are two kinds of people in the world. People who love West Virginia and people who haven’t been here.”

On Wednesday, Anderson said, he talked with Baker and apologized for his comments.

“I called Wren on Monday and we had a chance to talk. I explained the context and he graciously accepted my apology,” Anderson said.

“He made me promise that I would absolutely come to Morgantown many times over the course over the next few years,” Anderson added. “I’ve been there, it’s a beautiful, beautiful college town and they’ve got a nice stadium there. I’m telling you, their folks are as gracious with their hospitality as any you will find. I know there are good folks back there and no offense was intended and I look forward to visiting.”
