West Virginia men’s basketball’s Big 12 Conference opponents were announced on Thursday, ahead of the new 14-team league this year.
With the addition of BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF, the Mountaineers will no longer have a home-and-home schedule with every member in the conference.
West Virginia will face Iowa State, Houston, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, on the road only. West Virginia will only host Baylor, BYU, Kansas, Texas Tech. West Virginia will host and travel to UCF, Cincinnati, K-State, TCU, Texas.
These matchups were created using geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitive balance. The full schedule will be released at a later date.
The Mountaineers begin their 2023-2024 season on Nov. 6 against Missouri State at the WVU Coliseum. West Virginia is under new direction with interim head coach Josh Eilert.
