Since Josh Eilert took over as the interim head coach at West Virginia, there has been a lot of movement in the transfer portal.
Despite that movement, the Mountaineers have been able to retain RaeQuan Battle, and Kerr Kriisa — two important additions from this offseason. Another key piece for 2023-2024 is Syracuse transfer Jesse Edwards.
Edwards 14.5 points, 10.3, rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game last year. Edwards is 6-foot-11, and was coveted by many in the portal this offseason.
According to Jon Rothstein, Eilert tells him that Edwards, “isn’t going anywhere.”
Rothstein reports, “Josh Eilert tells me that he anticipates that West Virginia’s Jesse Edwards ‘isn’t going anywhere.'”
West Virginia is currently in desperate need of help in their front court. Both backup centers in Mohamed Wague and James Okonkwo are currently in the transfer portal with the option open to return to West Virginia.
