During Monday’s introductory press conference, West Virginia University Director of Athletics Wren Baker discussed what interim head coach Josh Eilert’s contract will look like.
Baker said Eilert will be making $1.5 million over a 10-month period. Baker noted most head coaches in the Big 12 were getting at least $2 million annually and he felt this was a necessary measure to bump his pay.
“He would have taken probably whatever we offered; I think the lowest Big 12 salary was around $2 million,” Baker said. “But we wanted to fair to him. This is going to be a hard job and we recognize that.”
