It seemed to be only a matter of time before the transfer portal began to hurt West Virginia since Bob Huggins’ departure and the first blow was dealt on Thursday night.
According to Justin Jackson of The Dominion Post, Mitchell has entered the portal.
“Lots of buzz lately about WVU forward Tre Mitchell. Just told by source he’s entered the portal today. School has 2 business days to officially put his name in the portal,” Jackson said on Twitter.
Mitchell played in 34 games last season, starting 32 of them for the Mountaineers. Mitchell averaged 11.7 points per game, and 5.5 rebounds per game. Mitchell played at both UMass and Texas prior to WVU, and graduated with a degree this past year and would be considered a graduate transfer.
