According to Adam Zagoria, players on West Virginia are in a zoom meeting with two former Mountaineers who are high ranking in the NBA ranks.
Mike Gansey — GM for the Cleveland Cavaliers — and Joe Mazzulla — head coach for the Boston Celtics — are both reportedly on a zoom, urging the current players on West Virginia’s roster to stay on the team following Bob Huggins’ departure over the weekend.
“The West Virginia basketball team is currently on a Zoom with Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla and Cavs GM Mike Gansey – two WVU products — who are urging them to keep the team together, per sources,” Zagoria said on Twitter.
Zagoria added, “Mazzulla and Gansey told the players if they need any help, they were there for them.”
Zagoria also shed light on who possible names to replace Huggins might be. Zagoria said, Andy Kennedy, Pat Kelsey, and Ben McCollum, have been names linked to the opening.
