Wetherholt, Traxel, Reed, earn ABCA All-Region Honors

West Virginia baseball had a trio of players who received ABCA All-Region selections, with JJ Wetherholt being named to the first team, while Blaine Traxel and Carlson Reed were named to the second team.

Wetherholt was the first Mountaineer named to the first team since Alex Manoah was in 2019. Overall, he is the 34th Mountaineer to be put on the first team since 1983. Wetherholt finished the year hitting .449 with 16 home runs, 24 doubles, 60 RBI, and 36 stolen bases.

Traxel and Reed were both huge for WVU on the mound. Traxel pitched five complete games and wet 7-6 with a 3.86 ERA. Reed served as WVU’s closer, going 2-1 with seven saves and a 2.61 ERA.
