West Virginia baseball pitcher Ben Hampton has transferred to Big 12 foe TCU.
Hampton was a key part in guiding the Mountaineers to a program record tying 40 wins this year. Hampton was 5-3 with a 4.45 ERA this season. In his career he was 17-11 with 203 strikeouts and a career ERA of 4.62. This past season, West Virginia was 11-5 in games Hampton started.
Hampton goes to the Horned Frogs with one year of eligibility remaining. Hampton is the second Mountaineer in as many years to have success at WVU and transfer to TCU. Former Mountaineer outfielder Austin Davis also transferred to TCU following last season.
TCU is headed to the College World Series this season, after beating Indiana State in the Super Regional round this past weekend.
Hampton is a Wisconsin native, was named a First Team All-Big 12 this past season. West Virginia’s rotation is set on replacing Hampton as well as Blaine Traxel next season, with Traxel being out of eligibility.
