Richard ‘Wink’ James continues to be impressed when he returns to Morgantown

Defensive lineman  Richard “Wink” James visited WVU over the weekend. From being the first recruit committed to the 2024 class to now taking an official visit, James said it continues to get better.

James is a 3 star prospect according to 247 Sports. Listed at 6-foot-1, 270 pounds, James compiled nine sacks, 56 tackles, and two pass deflections in his junior season while playing for Camden High School in New Jersey.

James committed to West Virginia in May of 2022 making him a member of the 2024 recruiting class.

“I have been committed to WVU for over a year now and everytime I step foot on campus it gets better,” said James. “The coaches and staff are very welcoming.”

Jones said that the visit went great and that they “definitely turned some eyes with this one,” with his favorite part being able to bond with the players, coaches, and other recruits while bowling.

Jones feels that he will fit into the WVU defense very well.

“I feel like I fit perfectly into the defense that WVU is perfecting as we speak. As soon as I am officially a mountaineer I’ll prove it.”
