West Virginia Baseball named to Lexington Regional

West Virginia baseball has found out their NCAA Tournament fate. The Mountaineers will play in the Lexington Regional, with Kentucky being the host.

West Virginia will face Indiana on Friday with the winner facing the winner of No. 1 Kentucky against No. 4 Ball State.

West Virginia last made the NCAA Tournament in 2019, and the Mountaineers won their first ever Big 12 regular season title being named the co-champ along with Oklahoma State and Texas. West Virginia lost five games to end the regular season, ending West Virginia’s chances of hosting.

The Mountaineers finished the season at 39-18 and ranked 24th to end the year in RPI. Indiana finished the regular season at 41-18, and they have an RPI of 30.

Kentucky is the No. 12 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, out of the 16 hosts.

The winner of the Lexington Regional will play the winner of the Baton Rouge Regional (LSU hosting).
