West Virginia cannot do anything to improve their resume at this point and are simply playing the waiting game until noon on Monday.
In the latest NCAA Tournament projections, the Mountaineers remain a two-seed in the Charlottesville (University of Virginia) Regional. The projections have the Mountaineers facing UC Irvine in the first round game on Friday. The winner would face the winner of Virginia/Penn.
West Virginia’s RPI is currently 22nd in the country and losing five games to end the season, with two of them coming in the Big 12 Tournament did not help West Virginia’s’ causes. While there is an outside chance the Mountaineers will be hosting, being sent to the Charlottesville Regional is probably best-case scenario due to the proximity between the two schools.
