Wetherholt collects national, Big 12 weekly awards

West Virginia second baseman JJ Wetherholt is the frontrunner for Big 12 Player of the Year and the national and Big 12 awards are rolling in after another dominant week.

Wetherholt currently leads the country in batting average, and went 8-for-16 this week with two home runs, two doubles and four RBIs. Wetherholt was named the Perfect Game/Rawlings Player of the Week nationally and was named Co-Big 12 Player of the Week. This is the third time he was named Big 12 Player of the Week.

Wetherholt and the Mountaineers went 3-1 this week, earning them a spot in the top 10 for the first time in program history. WVU was ranked sixth nationally by D1Baseball and seventh by Baseball America.
