Kedrian Johnson to join Best Virginia for TBT

Kedrian Johnson TTU

West Virginia guard Kedrian ‘Keddy’ Johnson will be playing on WVU’s alumni team Best Virginia in The Basketball Tournament this summer.

“Keddy brings energy to our team,” head coach James Long said. “His last season at WVU was all about value. He greatly impacted every area of every game he was in. He was one of the best guards in the best league in the country.”

Johnson averaged 11.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game this past season in what was his final year of eligibility. Johnson scored a career-high in points in his final collegiate game against Maryland.

Johnson spent three years in Morgantown under head coach Bob Huggins and brought intensity on defense as well as an ability to distribute and score the basketball.

“Kedrian is going to add a bunch of energy to our experienced group. He is going to really help us change the style of play as he enters the game. He seems like a joy to coach, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity this July,” Long added.

Johnson is a Texas native, who played at Temple College prior to coming to the Mountaineers. Johnson joins Kevin Jones and Nathan Adrian as the other former Mountaineers signed on to Best Virginia for this summer’s TBT. West Virginia will be hosting their regional in Wheeling, July 25-29.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the great West Virginia fans again,” Johnson said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun with the past West Virginia players. It should be a good time. Get your tickets now, and let’s go.”
