West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins officially announced the transfer Omar Silverio into the program for the 2023-2024 year.
“Omar is a very experienced player who will give us length and versatility on the perimeter,” Huggins said. “He’s an outstanding defender with great physicality. Omar is another guy who will allow us to spread the defense with his 3-point shooting ability.”
Silverio was a former teammate of fellow transfer Jose Perez. Silverio is from the Dominican Republic, and in 2021-2022 he averaged 10.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Silverio has attended Manhattan, Hofstra, and Rhode Island during his career.
Silverio joins the official announcements of Jesse Edwards, Kerr Kriisa, and Jose Perez as the transfers who have been officially announced for next season. WVU also has added a verbal commitment from transfer RaeQuan Battle.
Silverio will be on grant-in-aid for the 2023-2024 academic year.
