It was an impressive week for West Virginia baseball. The Mountaineers went 4-0 and won three of those games by 10 or more runs. West Virginia now finds themselves on the verge of entering the top 10.
West Virginia checked in at No. 12 by D1Baseball — up six spots from last week’s rankings. The Mountaineers also rose six spots in Baseball America’s weekly rankings, as they are now ranked No. 11 in the country.
West Virginia has won eight games in a row — which is tied for the longest active streak in the country — and will return home to Monongalia County Ballpark for seven of their next eight games.
The Mountaineers are certainly in line to host a regional for the first time since 2019. West Virginia is 16th in the RPI, which is the best out of any other Big 12 schools.
West Virginia is first in the Big 12 standings at an 11-4 conference record. West Virginia’s best finish in the Big 12 was with 14 wins last season and WVU has nine more games in conference play remaining this year. West Virginia’s 33 wins are also the most in the conference currently.
