West Virginia hit the transfer portal (again), this time adding Jesse Edwards from Syracuse. The forward is rated as one of the top players in the transfer portal and after his visit this weekend he decided to commit to Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers.
Edwards told ESPN, “I felt it was time for a fresh start.”
Edwards averaged 14.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game this season for the Orange.
Edwards cut his destination list down to three schools between West Virginia, Kansas, and Gonzaga. The Mountaineers were the only team to secure a visit from Edwards. Edwards will join what is now a loaded transfer portal class for West Virginia.
Edwards joins Jose Perez, Omar Silverio, and Kerr Kriisa who will be newcomers next season.
West Virginia also found out Tre Mitchell and Joe Toussaint will be returning for their fifth-year option next season.
