During the spring, the Mountaineer coaching staff has remained consistent that they will add through the transfer portal. They did just that on Wednesday, gaining the addition of Beanie Bishop, a defensive back from Minnesota.
Bishop had spent just one year at Minnesota after spending four seasons at Western Kentucky. A redshirt-senior, Bishop will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Last year with the Golden Gophers, Bishop played in all 13 games, registering 29 total tackles, and a sack during the season. Bishop also has experience on special teams as when he was at Western Kentucky he returned kicks.
In 2021, Bishop was named All-Conference USA First Team at defensive back and was an honorable mention selection as a kick returner. Bishop received an offer from WVU on March 3, and will presumably join the Mountaineers at the end of the spring.
