New coach Mark Kellogg brings in transfer with him for WVU women’s basketball

New West Virginia women’s basketball head coach Mark Kellogg has added Zya Nugent from the transfer portal.

Nugent and Kellogg both came from Stephen F. Austin, with Nugent announcing her intentions to transfer to the Mountaineers on Twitter Wednesday.

“When I made the decision to play for Mark Kellogg out of high school I knew it was the right one to make but I did not know all of the success that was to come,” she said.

Nugent missed the entirety of the 2022-2023 season due to a season-ending knee injury.

Nugent was the 2022 WAC Tournament MVP, and averaged 12.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in 2021-2022. She scored 26 points her last time out in the 2022 NCAA Tournament against North Carolina.
