West Virginia has earned the eight-seed in the Big 12 Tournament as Texas Tech lost to Oklahoma State on Saturday evening, giving the Cowboys the seven-seed. The Mountaineers will play Texas Tech in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament as they are the nine-seed.
All 10 Big 12 teams qualify for the Big 12 Tournament, but the Mountaineers do not have to win any games in Kansas City as with today’s win they all but guaranteed their spot in the NCAA Tournament.
West Virginia beat Kansas State clinching either the eight or seven seed on Saturday, but with Oklahoma State’s win over Texas Tech, the Mountaineers land the eight, while Oklahoma State gets the seven, and Texas Tech remains at the nine slot.
The Mountaineers and Red Raiders are set to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Mar. 8, with the winner earning the right to face No. 1 Kansas in the second round.
