West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins gave an update on West Virginia guard Jose Perez. Perez, a guard from Manhattan College, transferred to WVU after his head coach was let go right before the beginning of the season.
Despite that decision, Perez and the Mountaineers were denied a waiver for him to play and then denied again upon appeal of that waiver. On Friday though, West Virginia’s head coach gave some insight into Perez’s situation.
“He likes it here,” Huggins said of Perez. “How many people have you known that didn’t like it here. People are good to you here. People are good to you, you’ve got a great place to play, you play in the best league in the country, you’re on [television] all the time. What’s not to like.”
Perez averaged just under 19 points per game last season and asked if he think Perez would return next year, Huggins said, “I don’t think there’s any doubt.”
