After a big win against Oklahoma, West Virginia is moving up in some Bracketology projections.
As of Tuesday morning, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi lists WVU as one of the last four teams to receive a bye. Lunardi puts West Virginia in the East Region, having them face Duke in the first round in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Mountaineers would be in a slot with the winner of their game facing the winner of Tennessee vs Colgate. Lunardi also puts eight total Big 12 teams in the dance, as Oklahoma State is one of the last four teams in.
Jerry Palm of CBS Sports predicts West Virginia will be an 11 seed and face Oklahoma State in the first four games in Dayton, Ohio. Palm predicts the Mountaineers and Cowboys would play as 11 seeds and the winner would be the 11 seed in the West Region. The winner of the game would face six-seeded Duke in Orlando.
USA Today Bracketology features WVU as a nine seed to face Florida Atlantic in the first round, and would be slotted to face one-seed Alabama if they made it to the second round.
Team Rankings gives WVU an 84 percent chance to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament, while Bracket Matrix gives WVU a composite seed line of a 10-seed with a composite ranking of a 9.70 seed.
