West Virginia signed the majority of they 2023 recruiting class just over a month ago in December. With school starting at West Virginia University two weeks ago, West Virginia head football coach Neal Brown listed names of who is on campus, as well as an update on a star player for the Mountaineers in their recruiting class.

According to head coach Neal Brown, there are eight players from West Virginia’s 2023 recruiting class who are already on campus and participating in winter conditioning. This list includes, quarterback Sean Boyle, running back Jahiem White, wide receiver Tory Johnson Jr, offensive lineman Johnny Williams, linebacker James Heard, linebacker Josiah Trotter, linebacker Ben Cutter, and cornerback Josiah Jackson.

Brown also gave an update on four-star wide receiver Rodney Gallagher who will not be coming to the Mountaineers until May, upon high school graduation.

Gallagher will play high senior high school basketball season, a move which Brown encouraged.

“I don’t think there’s any replacement for having to perform in pressure situations and in competition,” Brown said. “If he didn’t play, 10 years from now he would regret it.”

As for the football side of things, with Gallagher not arriving in January, there is no doubt he will be caught up to the speed of things once he does arrive.

“He’s got plenty of time to catch up on the football,” Brown said of Gallagher. “He needs to close that chapter in his career, so I encouraged that because I think that’s the best thing for him.”
