Manhattan transfer Jose Perez has had his waiver appeal denied by the NCAA.
Jon Rothstein tweeted that sources say Perez’s appeal to the initial waiver denial has been denied by the NCAA. Perez is a two-time transfer, who transferred at the beginning of the season to West Virginia after his head coach Steve Masiello at Manhattan was let go days before the season.
Perez averaged just under 19 points per game last season.
“You’re messing with a young man’s livelihood, potential livelihoods. You’re messing with the fact that this kid has done everything that is humanly possible for him to do and it hasn’t changed,” West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said Tuesday.
Perez will have one season of eligibility remaining and will be able to continue practicing with WVU.
