Former Mountaineer Jalen Bridges who spend the last three seasons at West Virginia returned to the WVU Coliseum since transferring to Big 12 foe Baylor at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 season.
Bridges who is from Fairmont, West Virginia, spent three years in the West Virginia program. Bridges redshirted his first year, and then saw significant minutes over the past two seasons.
“I know Jalen Bridges has a lot of people that he loves and cares for here.” Baylor head coach. Scott Drew said. “I know he played a great game today and I know he’s real appreciative of him time here and their development. He’s learned a lot and grown a lot here. I get to benefit because he’s been coached by a Hall of Famer. He’s a lot better player than when he first got here because of Coach Huggins.”
Bridges had a season-high 10 rebounds to go with 10 points in Baylor’s five-point victory.
“Playing here for three years I kind of knew how it was for an opposing team to come in her,” Bridges said. “It’s one of the best atmospheres you can play in in the sport, in college basketball.”
Bridges was welcomed with many boo’s from West Virginia fans, and said he didn’t want to let the environment change his game.
“I wouldn’t say I ever go out and try to prove anything,” Bridges said. “I know what fully what I’m capable of and I know my game better than anyone else. I just go out there and compete, try to make winning plays and give my team a chance to win.”
