KenPom Projections for WVU after 0-3 start in Big 12 play

Just over two weeks ago before West Virginia started Big 12 play, KenPom — a basketball analytical tool — projected the Mountaineers would go 9-9 in Big 12 play. 16 days after the last look at projections, KenPom now predicts West Virginia will go 8-10 in league play, despite losing their first three conference games.

In addition, West Virginia had at least a 40 percent chance to win 12 of their remaining 15 conference games, and they now have a 40 percent chance to win 13 of their final 15 Big 12 games.

Despite that high number though, the Mountaineers have a higher percentage chance to win only six games than they did on Dec. 24. Conversely, West Virginia has a lesser percentage chance to win nine of their 15 Big 12 games according to KenPom.

KenPom also currently gives West Virginia a 59 percent chance to defeat Auburn in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Jan. 28.
