West Virginia gained another addition from the transfer portal late Friday night, as Georgia State transfer kicker Michael Hayes committed to the Mountaineers.
Hayes spent the last two seasons at Georgia State and served as a punter his first two seasons, before taking over kicking duties as well this past season.
In 2022, Hayes was 11 for 14 on field goals, with a long of 51 yards. Hayes also made 41 of his 42 PAT’s. Hayes was successful on kickoff duties as well, finishing with 47 touchbacks on 69 kickoffs this season.
Hayes will most likely take on the role of two Mountaineer specialist from this past season. Both Casey Legg and Parker Grothaus are no longer with the WVU program. Legg manned field goal duties, while Grothaus was a kickoff specialist.
Hayes has two years of eligibility remaining.
